St. PETERSBURG, 20 Oct. Agricultural enterprises of the Leningrad region completed harvesting grain, collecting a third more than planned, in total 144,4 thousand tons, the press service of the regional government.
“The agricultural enterprises of the Leningrad region completed harvesting grain, collecting a third more than planned, in total 144,4 thousand tons. About this at a working meeting in the government house informed the Governor of Leningrad region Alexander Drozdenko”, — stated in the message.
The increase in production of 19 thousand tons has been achieved due to the growth of the area allocated under crops. In 2015, the crops were sown on the area at 42.2 thousand hectares (in 2014 — 38,5 thousand hectares). “The increase in production volumes affected and higher yields… To consolidate the trends in grain production has been extensively sowing campaign of 2016. The harvest of the new year are already sown 8.6 thousand hectares, that on 2,2 thousand hectares more than last year. Plowed 25,3 thousand hectares of land is 118% of the previous year”, — stated in the message.
In the farms of the region covered 10,6 thousand tons of grain seeds, 90 tons of seeds of perennial grasses, planted for winter storage of 35 thousand tons of seed potatoes.
