The number of livestock farms and stud farms engaged in the breeding of Aberdeen-Angus cattle in the framework of the program of import substitution, increased in the Leningrad region for 2014-2015 from three to 10 farms, said the representative of the regional government.

MOSCOW, 20 Oct. The number of livestock farms and stud farms engaged in the breeding of Aberdeen-Angus cattle in the framework of the program of import substitution, increased in the Leningrad region for 2014-2015 from three to 10 farms, said the representative of the regional government.

“Tribal economy is the main focus of beef cattle breeding in the region. With each year the number of livestock farms, which are gradually fading from procurement heads in foreign countries, creating your own reproduction of cattle”, — said the Agency interlocutor.

According to him, cattle specialized beef breeds in agricultural organizations and peasant farms of the Leningrad region in 2014 rose to 5152 goals (128% compared to 2013), including cows — to 2314 goals (149%). It is expected that in 2015 the number of cattle meat breeds at the expense of own reproduction and purchased animals will increase by almost a thousand goals.

“Among large enterprises, which have been breeding Aberdeen-Angus animals, it should be noted CJSC “Satellite”, which won for breeding medal at the agricultural exhibition “Golden autumn — 2015”. The status of breeding reproducer acquired in April of 2015 and LLC “spring”, the main directions of which are cattle fattening, slaughter and realization of beef”, — said the representative of the regional government.

In addition, the establishment of a genetic centre of production of highly productive young plants for own use and sale to other farms is planned for OOO “Fruitful” Priozersk district. The status of breeding farm also claims the group of companies “Losevo”, an investment project which was presented at the agro-forum in Moscow. Finally, grants for breeding and fattening cattle received five family livestock farms in the region.

“The use of obtained superior animals will ensure a breeding bull and maternal herd with high genetic potential productivity of not only the North-Western region but the entire country, and in the future to exchange genetic material with foreign countries”, — added the press service.
