First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov said that the government is aware of the negative consequences of the situation with “Transaero” for leasing companies, VEB and VTB, but so far the issue of recapitalization is not worth it.
MOSCOW, 21 Oct. Leasing companies VTB and VEB may require additional recapitalization in connection with the situation with the airline “Transaero”, but while this issue is not, said the first Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov, speaking Wednesday in the state Duma at the government hour.
Transaero airlines has been unable to service debts, which form together with the leasing obligations of about 250 billion rubles. Sale of tickets is stopped and passengers are transported group airlines “Aeroflot” and other carriers. Air operator certificate “Transaero” will be revoked on 26 October, and the number of creditors, including Sberbank and Alfa-Bank, has filed a bankruptcy petition.
“We understand what the consequences will be for the leasing companies understand that with the courts will happen… Banks who are lending and capital is fueling such leasing company is the leasing company VEB and VTB — with them, might have to work on the topic of additional recapitalization. While this is not the question, but perhaps it should be,” Shuvalov said.
