Lavrov will discuss with the Council of heads of subjects of the Russian Federation, the strengthening of ties within the SCO


MOSCOW, October 28. The Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov will be held on Wednesday in Moscow the next, the 26th meeting of the Council of heads of subjects of the Russian Federation at the foreign Ministry. This time the main topic of the meeting will be the development of cooperation between Russian regions with partners in the Shanghai cooperation organization (SCO).

“Taking into account the views of heads of Russian regions, members of the Council, in the agenda of development of interregional cooperation format within the framework of SCO, said in depodesta. – It is planned to discuss a wide range of issues of strengthening trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian relations of subjects of the Russian Federation with partners from the SCO countries”.

The meeting is expected to address the governors of Perm Krai and Khabarovsky Krai, Novosibirsk and Chelyabinsk regions. “Following the meeting, recommendations will be accepted to the subjects of the Russian Federation and Federal ministries and departments on the ways of intensification and expansion of inter-regional cooperation, to enhance the impact of existing agreements, effective use of existing and promising formats for bilateral and multilateral cooperation,” added the Minister.

The last summit was held in April this year and was devoted to the development of humanitarian relations of subjects of the Russian Federation with foreign partners.

The Council of heads of subjects of the Russian Federation at the Russian foreign Ministry was created in 2003 on behalf of the President of Russia. Its main task is assistance to the regions in the development of international and foreign economic relations, as well as ensuring their participation in the preparation of proposals for various foreign policy initiatives.
