The Russian government has determined quotas for the stay in Russia of foreign citizens for 2016


MOSCOW, October 31. The Chairman of Russian government Dmitry Medvedev ordered to set quotas for issuance to foreign citizens and stateless persons permits for temporary residence in the Russian Federation for 2016. The corresponding decree published Monday on the website of the Cabinet.

The order is set for 2016, the quota on delivery to foreign citizens and persons without citizenship 125 900 permits for temporary residence in the Russian Federation with distribution on subjects of the Russian Federation in accordance with their applications (in 2015, the quota was 175 151 permits).

The size of the quota for next year is set on “the basis of the proposals of Executive authorities of subjects of Federation, prepared taking into account the migration situation and the economic situation in each specific region”, the statement reads. Thus the share of Moscow amounted to 2000 permissions, and the Crimean Federal district – 1900 permits.

The decision is aimed “at improving the effectiveness of regulation of migration processes and ensuring the uniform application of the legislation on the formation and establishment of quotas for issuance to foreign citizens and stateless persons permits for temporary residence in Russia as a whole and for each region”, – stated in the message of the government.
