Senator: it is necessary to take measures to improve aviation security

The airline and the government of the Russian Federation in the near future should develop measures to strengthen control over the safety and security of passengers, said Vice-speaker of the Federation Council Galina Karelova.

MOSCOW, 2 Nov. Vice-speaker of the Federation Council Galina Karelov calls on the Russian authorities and airlines in the near future to develop measures of strengthening control over the safety and security of passengers.

“Equally important, what’s next? How will be improved measures to ensure the safety of passengers? Whether and how increased control over safety? What conclusions think for yourself and the airline and that it will take to reduce the risks? The answers to these questions society needs to hear in the near future”, — she wrote in a blog on the website of the Federation Council in connection with the accident of the Russian plane in Egypt.

Karelova expressed the hope that the cause of the incident will be promptly installed. “I hope that the cause of the tragedy will be determined. After all, planes don’t just fall apart in the air. It is important for us to know what happened,” she said.

The Senator thanked the journalists who write about the passengers of the crashed plane. “I want to say a big word of gratitude to those journalists who these days try to tell you about a lot of flying on the plane — thanks to them we will remember these people,” wrote Karelova.

The largest disaster in the history of Russian and Soviet aviation occurred on Saturday: an Airbus-321 of airline “Kogalymavia”, who on Saturday was flying from Sharm El Sheikh to St Petersburg, crashed in the Sinai. Onboard there were 217 passengers and seven crew members. They all died.
