U.S. authorities: Volkswagen falsified emissions tests on cars Audi and Porsche

WASHINGTON, November 2. /Corr. Anton Freaks/. German company Volkswagen has installed software that allowed them to falsify environmental tests, not only on cars of the same brand, but also on vehicles of the group brands Audi and Porsche. This was announced by the Federal Agency for the environment /EPA/ USA.

“Volkswagen has developed and installed the device (to bypass the stringent environmental norms) on some engines equipped with three-liter light-duty diesel vehicles, Audi and Porsche model series 2014-2016 years”, – said in a statement.

According to the EPA, these devices “increased emissions of nitrogen oxides to a level at nine times the norm” adopted by the Agency. Thus, U.S. authorities are expanding their investigation into the “diesel scandal” and now includes cars like the Audi A6, A7, A8, Q5, Porsche Cayenne 2015-2016 model years and Volkswagen Touareg 2014 release. Still the investigation was conducted on machines equipped with a diesel engine capacity of two liters – car average price category Volkswagen.

The German carmaker was in the center of a scandal after the discovery on vehicles with diesel engines are software that allows you to bypass strict ecological standards of the USA. We are talking about the device that includes the full capacity of the exhaust system only during appropriate inspection machine. During normal car operation, the system is partially disabled. Thus, during the test is not fixed, for example, the level of nitrogen dioxide emissions, which can cause asthma attacks and other respiratory diseases.

As noted previously, the Agency BloombergBusiness in the USA there are 482 thousand Volkswagen cars with diesel engines, and they “passed the test emissions even though the emissions exceeded permissible levels in 40 times”.
