Speaker of the state Duma on Wednesday met with President of Algeria. The sides discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation and key issues on the international agenda.
ALGERIA, 4 Nov. Russia and Algeria occupy similar positions on the issue of combating terrorism in the middle East, said Wednesday the state Duma speaker Sergei Naryshkin, after meeting with President of Algeria Abdelaziz Bouteflika.
“Great place in our meeting were taken by discussion of the Syrian problem, and it is important that Russia and Algeria in relation to the problem of restoring peace and combating terrorism in the middle East is a common position,” Naryshkin said to journalists.
He also noted that at the meeting with the President of Algeria was affected by a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation between Russia and Algeria, as well as key issues on the international agenda, especially those concerning the region of North Africa and the Middle East.
“We are pleased with the progress of cooperation between our countries in political, military, economic and humanitarian spheres”, — said the Chairman of the lower house of the Russian Parliament.
He believes that the development of relations, “both countries are interested in and, most importantly, the people of our countries”.
“Of course, mutual trade and economic cooperation serve the interests of our countries. We have a large background in the issues of economic cooperation, especially in matters of education. On the basis of what was before, we have the opportunity to take steps forward,” said Naryshkin.
