MOSCOW, 7 Nov. Estonian Air, the airline officially ceases all flights from the 8th of November due to financial difficulties, is spoken in the message of Association of tour operators of Russia.

The airline Estonian Air is in financial difficulties since 2006. The government of Estonia in the period from 2008 to 2014 provided the company with public funds. In the opinion of the European Commission, it is a violation of competition rules and does not meet the requirements of the air transport market of the European Union. On Saturday, the European Commission demanded repayment of the financial assistance of the Estonian government from the airline. As Estonian Air is unable to repay the government subsidies in the amount of € 85 million plus interest, the EC took the decision to stop the activity of the air carrier.

“The airline Estonian Air from November 8 to officially discontinues all flights, including St. Petersburg and Moscow. Tourists who bought a ticket directly from Estonian Air or in a travel Agency, and-holding tickets with dates of departure on 8, 9 and 10 November 2015, I promise to find a replacement flight”, — stated in the message.

It is emphasized that the cost of tickets purchased at the tour Desk or Estonian Air on the flights, dated from November 11, 2015, refundable. For this purpose on the website of the airline required to submit an application. Compensation of the cost of tickets will start from 11 December this year.
