A leading expert on the Middle East, Director of London’s Institute of global strategies Mamun Fandi said in an interview that Kuwait supports the stabilizing role of Russia in the middle East. “The Russian presence in Syria is now seen as a stabilizing factor needed to end the conflict in that country,” he said. According to experts, Kuwait’s position on the Syrian crisis is “closest” to Russia’s position, advocating for a diplomatic resolution of this problem. “In Kuwait consider Assad as a transitional figure, and only the Syrian people to decide his fate, said Fandi. And in this sense position of Russia and Kuwait are similar”.

“At the present time Kuwait, like other Gulf countries, including Saudi Arabia, are interested in Russia while solving other issues in world politics – said the expert. But Russia needs in Kuwait and the Gulf countries to reduce the global oil prices to an acceptable level”.
