The prospects of intensifying the contacts to combat terrorism depend on “mutual political will”, said the head of the presidential administration of the Russian Federation. Sergei Ivanov stressed that in modern conditions to fight terrorism is possible only together.
HELSINKI, 10 Nov. The intensification of contacts between Russia and the US to combat possible terrorism, said Tuesday the head of the Russian presidential administration Sergei Ivanov.
“Perhaps,” Ivanov told the journalists, answering the question whether an intensification of contacts between the Russian Federation and the USA on fighting terrorism.
The head of the Kremlin administration noted that in principle the contacts on the antiterrorist track between Russia and the United States was never interrupted.
“They were, say, 10 years ago, more intense, now they are less intense, but they had never been interrupted. These contacts are performed primarily through the appropriate agencies, the FSB and the FBI in the first place”, — he noted.
At the same time, Ivanov stressed that everything depends on mutual political will.
“The prospects for revitalization or development, of course, depend not only on us, because we never get away from this and consider it helpful, and not only with US but with any civilized country in the world. But it all depends on mutual political will, I would have frankly said, and the specific situation. Because, unfortunately, usually for the intensification of these contacts are those who currently have suffered from a specific terrorist act, then passes 2-3 months — suffers from another, and it starts to show activity”, — said the head of the presidential administration.
Ivanov stressed that in modern conditions to fight terrorism is possible only together, globally. “One country with international terrorism to fight can not, by definition”, he added.
