HELSINKI, 11 November. /Corr. Nina Burmistrova/. Russia is not fighting against the insurgents in Syria, its goal is to stop the “Islamic state”. This was reported in the broadcasting company Yle, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich.
“Russia is fighting against ISIS. And our goal is to fight it, not let it spread and have an impact in the world. We apply the shocks according to the data of our intelligence. We do not fight against the rebels. And we check with our partners the data we have”, – said the Deputy Prime Minister.
Russian pilots strike at targets of terrorist organizations “Islamic state” and “dzhebhat EN-Nusra” (both organizations are banned in Russia) in Syria from 30 September, acting at the request of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. To participate in ground operations in Syria Russia does not intend.
