Matvienko will visit Argentina, where he will hold meetings with the presidential candidates of the country

The delegation of the Federation Council headed by Chairman of the house Valentina Matvienko will visit Argentina on an official visit, where he will hold negotiations in the National Congress (Parliament) of the country. It is expected that during the visit, the Federation Council speaker will also meet with presidential candidates of Argentina.

According to Matvienko, in recent years, relations between Russia and Argentina has a very dynamic development. “We have an active political dialogue at the highest level, at the level of governments, we have been actively developing economic and investment cooperation,” she told reporters ahead of the visit.

The speaker of the Federation Council assured that Argentina is an important partner of Russia both in bilateral aspect and in the international arena. “Argentina is close or similar positions with Russia – we have a very active participation in different organizations, including the UN,” said the Senator. According to her, has always supported Argentina and is co-author of those resolutions, which makes Russia at the UN, and never supports provocative resolutions aimed against Russia.

Special attention in the program of the visit paid to the candidates for the President of the country. It is planned that the head of the Federation Council will meet with the ruling party candidate Daniel Scioli and an opposition candidate Mauricio Macri. “We’re going in a very interesting time, when for the first time will be the second round of the presidential elections. And both candidates have equal chances to be elected”, – said in an interview with reporters Matvienko.

Reassured that she was well familiar with both candidates. “For Russia and for me personally, it’s a well-known political figures,” said she.

Matvienko stressed that for her interesting personal meeting with both parties in the presidential race, “to ensure that no matter which candidate will win which party will win – that will be saved continuity in the development of cooperation with Russia”. “This is extremely important for us”, – assured the head of the upper house of the Russian Parliament.

“I hope to have the opportunity to meet with opposition candidate, and the Pro-government, and we will be able to make conclusions for themselves, what they see, if elected, relations with the Russian Federation.
