MOSCOW, 12 Nov. The value of the Euro against the dollar on Thursday, after relative stability has moved to decline against the background of statements of the ECB head Mario Draghi regarding the future course of monetary policy of the regulator, according to AFP.
As of 12.25 GMT the Euro against the dollar decreased to of 1.0730 with 1,0743 dollar dollar per Euro. Thus immediately after the publication of speech of the ECB President the single currency dropped to 1,0693 dollar to the Euro. Prior to that, he slightly hesitated. The dollar against the yen rose to 122,99 yen per dollar with 122,86 yen per dollar at the previous closing. The dollar index (the dollar against a basket of currencies of six major U.S. trading partners) rose by 0.26% to 99.1 per item.
The ECB President, speaking in the European Parliament, once again confirmed the intention of the regulator to reconsider the degree of support of economy at the meeting in December. Previously, Draghi talked about this on the results of the latest meeting of the ECB on 26 October. This statement gave investors hope to expand the quantitative easing program implemented in the region, especially in light of the risks from the slowing global economy, trade, and inflation.
“If we decided that our goal is to ensure price stability in the medium term is at risk, then we would use all the tools that are at our disposal to provide the necessary monetary accommodation,” said Draghi, adding that the asset purchase program is considered to be especially powerful and flexible tool of monetary policy.
