Moscow. November 17. The Ministry of environment have agreed on the postponement of the launch of the Udokan copper field, told reporters the head of the Ministry Sergey Donskoy.
“The time has long been updated. Filed (“metalloinvest”- if) in the beginning of the year for an extension. At the moment the Udokan all decisions taken”, the Minister said, zatrudnilisj check the timing of the launch field.
Initially, the launch of the first plant (12 million tons of ore) was scheduled for 2014, reaching full capacity in 2016. The current plan for the development of Udokan involves the construction of the mine industrial complex for processing of 36 million tonnes of ore per year with production of 474 thousand tons of cathode copper and 277 tonnes of associated silver.
Udokan is the third in the world in terms of copper reserves Deposit. The license for Udokan “daughter” “metalloinvest” – Mikhailovsky GOK – received in 2008. Later the operator of the project became “Baikal mining company” (BMC). In October 2015 it became known that Vnesheconombank will be included in the capital and BGK will provide the company with 13 billion rubles for the development of project documentation.
