MOSCOW, 20 Nov. U.S. regulators believe that the Volkswagen group deliberately understated the environmental readings for diesel vehicles in 2009, i.e. long before the outbreak in 2015 scandal with frauds software, reports Reuters.
We are talking about cars that were equipped with diesel engines of 3.0 liters, said the representative of the Agency for environmental protection of the United States. This model Audi, Porsche and Volkswagen, just about 85 thousand cars, mainly SUVs and luxury class.
Previously Volkswagen was involved in a similar scandal with cars with less powerful engines, the Agency said.
American authorities accuse carmaker Volkswagen that it has equipped its diesel cars software, lowered the actual emission values. The company could face a fine of up to 18,075 billion. Most vehicles with violations in is not in the U.S. and in Europe. There are about 11 million cars with such defects.
