The defense Ministry will receive new Arctic helicopter at the end of November


The Mi-8AMTSH-VA is designed to keep Russia’s interests in the Arctic. The machine is modified for use in polar night conditions, limited visibility and low temperatures.

MOSCOW, 19 Nov. The first Mi-8AMTSH-VA, was developed specifically for use in the Arctic, will be transferred to the Ministry of defense of Russia in late November this year, said Thursday the press service of the holding “Russian Helicopters” (part of “rostec”).

The Mi-8AMTSH-VA was created specifically for the interests of the Russian Federation in the Arctic. Based on the latest military-transport helicopter Mi-8AMTSH helicopter-IN, a developer and manufacturer of modified machine for use in difficult weather conditions, the polar night, low visibility and maleoriented areas. The main task in creating the machine was adapted to work at low temperatures.

“The contract for the supply of helicopters to the Russian Arctic group of forces was signed with the Ministry of defence in February this year and marks the Ulan-Ude aviation plant together with a long term contract for the supply of helicopters by 2020. In late November the first “Arctic” machine will be delivered to the customer. Following the Mi-8AMTSH-VA will be delivered under the state defense order, starting in 2016″, — reported in the holding company.

Mil “was given to the equipment and systems that are installed on the helicopter for the first time and are specially designed to ensure operation of the machine in conditions of the Arctic latitudes.”

In 2014, the revenue of “Helicopters of Russia” under IFRS grew by 22.8% and amounted to RUB 169,8 bln rubles, the volume of deliveries amounted to 271 helicopter.
