Washington’s position towards Iran has created a very big cultural divide, so people no longer trust the US, says first Deputy Minister of industry, mines and trade of Mojtaba Khosrowtaj.
MOSCOW, 19 Nov. Tatyana Kalmykova. The American business has a big problem to enter the Iranian market, said in an interview with first Deputy Minister of industry, mines and trade of Mojtaba Khosrowtaj.
“Yes, of course,” said the Deputy Minister, responding to a question. According to him, “today we have no such acceptance among the citizens, and this is a key point”.
“There are opportunities for those countries with which we have positive connotations in society. People are very closely watching the steps taken by certain countries for their position on various issues. I am sure that the U.S. position has created a very large cultural gap. People don’t trust the U.S.,” he said.
In an interview with senior analyst for Iran, International crisis group Ali Vaez reported that “U.S. companies (with the exception of a few categories, such as airlines, agro – and medical companies), they are prohibited from doing business with Iran.”
“The irony in this situation is that European companies are the main stakeholders of a deal on the nuclear program, which tried so hard to Americans,” said Vaez.
In addition, Iran’s Supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei “wants to be sure that the deal on the nuclear program will not be a transformation for the relations between US and Iran”, the expert believes.
“He (Khamenei) is concerned that the economic return of U.S. influence will open the door for political influence in Iran. However, a ban on imports from the USA is largely symbolic, because the Iranian market is already filled with American goods and technology imported from Dubai”, — said Vaez.
