MOSCOW, November 20. The members of the Federation Council and deputies of the state Duma on Friday at a joint meeting to discuss the increasing terrorist threat in the world and needed to fight it measures. The meeting will be held in the format that is used by the Russian Parliament in exceptional cases.

As explained the press service of Council of Federation, it is a joint meeting of both chambers of the Russian Parliament, to be attended by invitees including members of the Board of legislators, the Public chamber, trade unions, civil society institutions.

The meeting starts in the hall of columns at 10:00 GMT.

According to Naryshkin, in addition to Federal parliamentarians at the meeting “will include representatives of four confessions, the leaders of the two regional parliaments of Saint-Petersburg and Tatarstan, representatives of several public organizations”.

According to the speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko, members of Parliament and public representatives plan to discuss “the wide range of actions that need to take in Russia”. “First and foremost we are concerned about the national security of our country and our citizens. One authority without society, to cope effectively with this problem,” she said.

“It is obvious that our country is in a state of full-scale war with terrorism. All these challenges require serious effort of the Federal Assembly”, – said Vice-speaker of the state Duma, Deputy Chairman of lower chamber Committee on international Affairs Nikolai Levichev (“Fair Russia”). In this regard, he explained, the focus of discussion at the meeting will be “the strategy of fight against terrorism, the provision of which under current conditions is a necessity”.

Levichev believes that some of the bombing positions of the terrorist group “Islamic state” (banned in Russia – approx.) in Syria is not enough, “the whole society must unite to prevent attacks of terrorists inside the country, and special services should start to work virtually in a state of emergency”.

It is not excluded that the meeting will raise the issues of special services in the conditions of increased security measures and changes to anti-terrorism legislation.

Matvienko: the Federation Council is ready to consider any suggestions of the intelligence agencies to prevent terrorist attacks

As stated earlier, Matviyenko, the Federation Council is ready if necessary to consider any offers of law enforcement bodies, special services to enhance the security of Russian citizens, to prevent terrorist acts.

She also supported the establishment of Russian President Vladimir Putin, the interdepartmental Commission on combating the financing of terrorism, assuring that MPs are ready “to consider, to promptly prepare such legislative enactments to give the tools of financial and law enforcement authorities to prevent any attempt of terrorist financing”.

At the meeting it is also planned to make a General statement, to prepare the text was entrusted to the working group, which includes the head of the Duma Committee on constitutional legislation and state construction Vladimir Pligin.

The state Duma called for the immediate establishment of anti-terrorist coalition against ISIS

This week the state Duma and the Federation Council adopted its statement in connection with the aggravation of the terrorist threat in the world.

On Tuesday, the MPs called on the parliamentarians of the countries of Europe, North America, Middle East and other regions of the world to contribute to the fight against terrorism.

“The terrorists calling themselves Islamic state, declared war against not only Syria and Iraq, but France and other States involved in counter-terrorism operations.
