Vice-speaker of the state Duma asked the Federal air transport Agency to terminate air service between Russia and Turkey to eliminate any possible sources of the terrorist threat in Turkish airports.
MOSCOW, 24 Nov. Vice-speaker of the state Duma Nikolai Levichev (“Fair Russia”) sent a letter to the head of Rosaviatsiya Alexander Neradko with a request to consider the full termination of flights between Russia and Turkey due to increased risk of a terrorist threat to Russian aircraft.
“I ask you to consider the complete and immediate cessation of air links between Russia and Turkey, until, until you have taken exhaustive measures to eliminate any possible sources of the terrorist threat in Turkish airports”, — said in a statement Levicheva. The document is available.
The Deputy said that the national carrier of Turkey Turkish Airlines currently operates flights from Istanbul and other Turkish cities in a number of settlements located in an area of high terrorist risk.
“At the same time from the same Turkish airports is sending planes in different Russian cities. In conditions, when the attitude of the Turkish authorities to the terrorist group “Islamic state” (banned in Russia) are not negative, there is a high risk of intrusion of militants into Turkish airports, which could result in increased terrorist threats to Russian aircraft”, — stressed Levichev.
