ST. PETERSBURG, November 26. State Duma speaker Sergei Naryshkin re-elected as Chairman of the parliamentary Assembly of the Organization of collective security Treaty (CSTO PA). Decision adopted at the eighth plenary meeting of the Assembly, which takes place in St. Petersburg.
“For me, it is the responsibility and great honor. I consider the work of the PA CSTO as an important part of his professional and political activities,” – said Naryshkin.
According to him, the CSTO plays a significant role for the collective security of the countries belonging to the organization.
The Chairman of the CSTO PA is elected for three years. Naryshkin held a post of the speaker of the CSTO PA in may 2012.
In the CSTO PA is composed of representatives of parliaments of the countries participating in the CSTO: Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan.
Speaking at the meeting of the Assembly, he also spoke about the incident with the Russian su-24 shot down the Turkish side.
“I am sure that this action and the actions of the military and political leadership of Turkey do not reflect and cannot reflect the will of the people of this country. Crime is a betrayal of its own national interests. Day 24 of November will remain in the history of Russian-Turkish relations”, – said Sergey Naryshkin.
He urged his colleagues to honor the memory of killed servicemen by a minute of silence.
