MOSCOW, November 26. In recent years, the concept of “public diplomacy” has been enriched and widened. This opinion was expressed by the official representative of the Russian foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova, speaking on Thursday at the forum “Role of people’s diplomacy in developing international humanitarian cooperation”, dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the Federal Agency Rossotrudnichestvo.
“It happened due to the fact that the very classical diplomacy became clearer, more accessible, she said. – The great merit of our compatriots abroad support such a relationship with our country”.
Zakharov stressed that an important role of digital diplomacy. “This is an opportunity in a second to chat with someone in any country of the world, wherever he was,’ she explained. – Hundreds of thousands of people who have never been in Russia, thanks to digital diplomacy learned about our country very much.”
Forum on the role of people’s diplomacy
In the Russian capital on November 26 open forum “Role of people’s diplomacy in developing international humanitarian cooperation”, dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States, compatriots living abroad and international humanitarian cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo).
As reported in the press service of the Agency, the main task of the forum is “to discuss the role of people’s diplomacy in developing international humanitarian cooperation”. The event will be attended by more than 500 delegates from nearly 100 countries, in particular, representatives of friendship societies with foreign countries Russia, state authorities, mass media, parliamentarians, cultural figures, specialists in the field of Russian language and literature.
Planned speech at the forum the speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko, special representative of the RF President for international cultural cooperation Mikhail Shvydkoi, other prominent Russian politicians and public figures.
The forum will be a solemn cancellation of the envelope with “90 years of people’s diplomacy” and the ceremony of awarding the participants of the contest “Russia: five reasons my sympathy”, organized by Rossotrudnichestvo.
Established in 1925 the all-Union society for cultural ties with abroad (VOKS) and the Union of Soviet societies for friendship and cultural relations with foreign countries and other organizations (ussf), the current Agency for the past 90 years are the most important work on the formation of the circle of friends of our country abroad. During this time, improving forms of its activity, the organization carries out vital work on development of international humanitarian cooperation, promotion of objective information about our country, its rich history and cultural heritage, economic and spiritual potential.
