Non-profit organizations in Russia
According to her, today in Russia is registered more than 220 thousand non-profit organizations (NPOs). “It’s certainly a huge strength,” the Senator said.
Matvienko noted that NGOs are often even “better than state and municipal agencies are aware of the problems, working directly with people and able effectively to help them.” “That’s why, despite the difficult situation in the economy, next year is not planned to reduce budgetary support for the institutions of civil society,” she said.

Matviyenko believes that it is impossible to underestimate the capacity of civil society in countering the spread of terrorism.

According to Matvienko, this will avoid blunt and controversial decisions. “Such as, for example, the introduction of fees from heavy vehicles for travel on Federal highways, caused a wave of protests by truck drivers in the regions,” she explained.

System “Platon”, providing the toll for heavy vehicles weighing more than 12 tonnes of tolls on Federal highways, are available from 15 November. Until March 1, 2016, trucks to pay 1,53 rubles for each kilometer, in the future, the rate will increase. It is planned that in 2016 the collection of payments will bring 40 billion. The money will be spent on the repair of Federal highways.

The Chairman of the Federation Council believes that the government must do everything so that elections to the state Duma in 2016 passed without violations.
