Mitrokhin decided to run for the post of head of Yabloko


The decision of Sergey Mitrokhin is contrary to the recommendation of the political Affairs Committee to limit the stay of one person on a post of the head of the party two terms.

MOSCOW, 5 Dec. The head of one of the key Russian liberal parties Yabloko leader Sergei Mitrokhin will participate again in the election of the Chairman of the party, despite the recommendation of the political Affairs Committee to limit the stay of one person on this post two terms, the press service of the party.

The key body of the current administration’s party had previously recommended that the Congress “the Apple” to limit the stay of one person on a post of the party Chairman to two terms. Mitrokhin took this position in 2008, the Chairman of Yabloko elected every four years. Previous, first Chairman of the party Grigory Yavlinsky headed it for 15 years.

“I intend to fight for the presidency of the party. The political Affairs Committee is one of the governing bodies of party, it has distinguished people, to them, of course, listen, but the decision of the Congress,” Mitrokhin was quoted by the press service of the party.

He called it incorrect to set new rules of the game on the eve of re-election. “This practice is something much like to change the electoral system before their implementation”, — he commented the initiative of the political Affairs Committee.

The Chairman of Yabloko stressed that the adoption of this amendment to the Charter will require a two-thirds vote of the delegates. “No one today can predict the decision of the Congress. I’m not sure that two-thirds of the delegates vote for this amendment,” said Mitrokhin.
