In winter gas package stipulates that Naftogaz must buy from Gazprom 2 billion cubic meters of gas on a credit of 500 million dollars. Ukraine as part of a package purchased 2,383 billion cubic meters of gas.
VLADIVOSTOK, 5 Dec. Russia continues cooperation on gas with Ukraine in the framework of the existing treaties, the security of supply to Europe cannot be questioned, said the program “Vesti on Saturday” the head of Ministry Alexander Novak.
“We live within those contracts that were signed. I think that within the scope of those contracts it is necessary to continue the interaction, as we are a reliable supplier of gas to European consumers. In any case, we cannot question the reliability of supplies from Russia to European consumers,” said Novak.
In winter gas package, which Ukraine, Russia and the EC was initialled on 25 September, agreed to purchase by Naftogaz from Gazprom 2 billion cubic meters of gas on a credit of 500 million dollars attracted using the EC. Ukraine in the framework of the “winter package” has resumed purchases of Russian gas on 12 October, and after November 25, once again stopped. During this period, “Naftogaz” total transferred “Gazprom” of 542 million dollars in payment for gas, this amount corresponds to the volume in 2,383 billion cubic meters of gas.
On Friday, the head of “Gazprom” Alexei Miller said that by the end of the year, “Naftogaz” will not make any purchases of Russian gas. However, the parties are preparing for the resumption of purchases in the first quarter of 2016.
Kyiv expects the negotiations on the price of Russian gas for Ukraine in the first quarter of 2016 will be held in December 2015, other terms of delivery agreed between Naftogaz and Gazprom before March 31, 2016 and the first quarter will not change.
Winter gas package provides for the granting by Russia of the discount to the contract price of gas for Ukraine to the level of prices in adjacent EU countries. Discount provided by resolution of the government of the Russian Federation by reducing customs duties. In the fourth quarter of the price of Russian gas for Ukraine taking into account the discount is 227.36 USD per thousand cubic meters.
