MOSCOW, December 8. The US is trying to block the efforts of the international community to prevent an arms race in outer space, said the foreign Ministry of the Russian Federation. 70th session of the UN General Assembly plenary meeting on December 7 adopted by Russia in its initial collaboration with Brazil and China, the resolution on “No first deployment of weapons in outer space” (NPOC), recalled in depodesta.

“It is noteworthy that the only government objecting to the substance of our initiative, is the U.S., which for many years in almost complete isolation trying to block successive efforts of the international community to prevent an arms race in outer space (PGWC), said in depodesta. – In the last time they expressed solidarity with Ukraine and Georgia”.
The Russian foreign Ministry noted that the questions “are the approaches of member States of the European Union, who previously held a constructive position on PGUK”. “It is regrettable that for the second year in a row they are under pressure from the U.S. abstain in the voting on the resolution on NPOC and thus give a signal about his indifferent attitude to the possible deployment of weapons in space”, – noted in the Ministry.
