MOSCOW, December 9. Russians are worse off than they would like to live, but now the country understands its capabilities and can develop even in these conditions, said Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev in an interview with Russian TV channels.
“We continue to live, we even develop”
“We first learned the price of their own economic opportunities, said the Prime Minister. – We continue to live, we even expanded. We live worse, probably, than we would like to live, it’s true. But on the other hand, we now understand the internal resources of the Russian economy”.
According to Medvedev, the life solely through private sources, on the one hand, bad on the other hand, is a blessing.

Medvedev: Russia has a “plan” and “plan C” in case of unfavorable oil conjuncture
He recalled how the economic authorities of the country behaved in the period of 90th and “zero” years.
“If anything, we immediately turned to Western loans, and it was done by mostly commercial institutions, banks, large commercial institutions, and thus add to the liquidity deficit, the currency has received the sources for the conclusion of contracts of import. Now none of that,” said the Prime Minister.
He stressed that the Russian economy has proved its sufficiency.
“Let’s face it: not every country has a self-sufficient economy. Some countries are not able to live without outside assistance. But our country will live and develop in such conditions”, he concluded.
