Russia and USA are preparing a UN security Council resolution on the fight against terrorism for adoption by December 18


UN, 9 December. /Corr. Oleg Zelenin/. The United States and Russia are jointly preparing the draft resolution of the UN Security Council to combat terrorism, which paid special attention to the threat from the terrorist group “Islamic state” (IG, is prohibited in Russia) and oil trading with extremists. This was stated to journalists on Tuesday, the permanent representative of the Russian Federation at the world organization Vitaly Churkin.

According to him, the document can be adopted on 18 December at a meeting chaired by U.S. Secretary of state John Kerry.

“It will be extensive, comprehensive resolution to combat terrorism, which will significantly strengthen the potential of SA in the fight against the terrorist threat,” – said Churkin. “We are quite confident that the resolution will be ready by 18 December”, – he added.

He said that in the IG document would be highlighted as a separate anti-terrorist structure still grouping was considered in SA as an offshoot from al-Qaida. In addition, the document will allow to strengthen control over the implementation of the February resolution 2199 prohibits the trade with terrorists in oil and cultural values.
