MOSCOW, December 10. The U.S.-led coalition only simulates the fight against the terrorist group “Islamic state” (IG, is prohibited in Russia) in Syria. This was stated by the official representative of the Russian foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.
“Our estimates remain the same, they are disappointing. Coalition rather simulates the fight against the ISIL (the former name of the IG – ed.) and the real terrorism and that certainly politicized and inconsistent with international law approach to the situation, at least in Syria. And now we see that not only in this country,” – said the diplomat.

“As you know, the ineffectiveness of the coalition clearly confirmed the increasing problem of ISIL,” said Zakharova. According to her, Moscow has never heard of “a year of American pilots at least once noticed a column of trucks with smuggled oil that nourishes, among other forces and ISIL”. “They might, of course, noticed, but not publicly shared, and certainly did nothing to this thread somehow override”, – noted Zakharov.
“Now it is obvious the fact that the coalition members in some cases claim to be acting in its composition, and in other cases where this seems beneficial, they say, that act independently. In this regard, the scope for the application, including, double standards are very broad. To understand where countries are in the coalition, and where to act based on their own interests, it is almost impossible,” – said the official representative of the guardian. According to her, “it would be nice to actually acquaint the world with his concept of what the coalition is doing in the region.”
“It is very important that France, Britain, and Germany, having a complex internal debate in their countries on the use of force against ISIL, could make a real contribution to the fight against this terrorist group, – continued the diplomat. – What do I need to do? In our view, this requires a firm reliance on international law, the willingness to coordinate actions with Russia, which adheres strictly to the provisions of international law, and, of course, to the legitimate authorities of Syria and Iraq”.
“The Russian Federation suggested the Western partners to make available information regarding LIH. The answers were, to put it mildly, evasive, – said Zakharov. In these conditions it is very difficult to talk about the real effectiveness of the coalition headed by the USA, even despite the involvement of some of its European members.”

“Islamic state” (ISIS) – an Islamist terrorist organization operating inside Iraq and Syria. Established on 15 October 2006 by the merger of 11 radical Sunni groups. The core group forming the militants, who fought with American troops during their stay in Iraq and with the forces of the government of Bashar al-Assad in Syria.
The IG recognized as a terrorist organization in the USA, Canada, UK, Australia, Turkey, Egypt, UAE, India, Indonesia, and Russia (29 December 2014).
