On Friday the Vice-speaker of the state Duma, Secretary of General Council of “United Russia” Sergey Neverov has made to the house a bill requiring candidates to participate in televised debates, in case of refusal they will lose airtime in favor of the opponents. The Communist party expressed support for the bill.
MOSCOW, 11 Dec. The Communist party will require mandatory personal participation of electoral candidates in televised debates extended to the first persons of party lists, said first Vice-speaker of the state Duma, first Deputy Chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist party Ivan Melnikov.
On Friday the Vice-speaker of the state Duma, Secretary of General Council of “United Russia” Sergey Neverov has made to the house a bill requiring candidates to participate in televised debates, in case of refusal they will lose airtime in favor of the opponents. The amendments to the laws on basic guarantees of electoral rights in the Russian Federation and elections of deputies of the state Duma.
“The law will support and will continue to require mandatory participation applies to the first persons lists. If other parties have no problem with that, the leaders of the EP list, as a rule, are pathetic reasons to ignore the interested viewer”, — told millers to journalists.
The leader of United Russia, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has not excluded that will take part in the Duma election in 2016 as Chairman of the party. The decision on who will head the list of United Russia, will be taken at the Congress in June.
Melnikov also recalled that the Communist party has repeatedly offered to debate in the elections mandatory.
“Of course, we support this initiative because it essentially is ours. We have already made such a proposal, but then the United Russia has blocked him, he told me about the sacred right to self-determination: focus on the debates or the ads. So to tear his shirt it is not necessary, the voter we will be telling in paint as a joke”, he added.
