Zakharova: the proposal to write off part of the debt of Kyiv on the background of continuing sanctions that sounds like fun

MOSCOW, December 12. The proposal of the head of the EU delegation to Russia Vygaudas of Usackas on the write-off by Russia of the Ukrainian debt amid refusal to lift the illegal sanctions against Moscow because of a default by Kiev Minsk agreements sound funny. This was stated by the official representative of the Russian foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova on his page in social network Facebook.

“Over the past few days the envoy of the European Union in Russia Vygaudas uĊĦackas has made a number of original, but somewhat contradictory statements, she said. – First, he invited Russia to act in a friendly way and to write off 20% of the debt of Ukraine. And the next day he said that the lifting of sanctions with Russia will not happen: “Christmas gifts should not be expected”.

“It’s funny: their own money given to Ukraine in debt, Russia needs a friendly gift, and “gift” in the form of removal of the illegal sanctions, continuing, in fact, because of a default by Kiev Minsk agreement, may not be counted – continued Zakharova. – The Kiev “Christmas gifts” in the form of millions of trenches is transferred all year round.”

“However, as we see, the good in them a little – probably not heartily give”, – said in conclusion, the official representative of the Russian foreign Ministry.

This week Usackas expressed hope that Russia will follow the example of the European Union and to voluntarily restructure the debt of Ukraine. Earlier the President of Russia Vladimir Putin declared about the readiness to restructure the debt of Ukraine at $3 billion if the U.S., the EU or large international financial institution will give Russia the guarantees. However, assurances had been received. In this December 20, Ukraine must repay the loan to Russia, if it do not, within 10 days after the onset of this period, Russia will go to court.
