Russia needs guarantees the European Commission that all routes, including, possibly, the route via Turkey to Europe, not only implementing, but is a priority, and the EC would support it, stated the President of Russia Vladimir Putin.
MOSCOW, 17 Dec. Russia to implement the “Turkish stream” need written guarantees of the European Commission support for the project; its future ultimately depends not on Russia, said President of Russia Vladimir Putin.
“We started talking about the “Turkish stream”. You know, not from us, it ultimately depends. It’s not like we broke off the negotiations, we need that the European Commission written guarantees provided that all routes, including, possibly, the route via Turkey to Europe, not only implementing, but is a priority, and the European Commission would support it. If Turkish partners “Gazprom” will bring this paper from Brussels, we’ll move on. But so far, unfortunately, do not see”, — Putin said at the annual press conference on Thursday.
The project “Turkish stream” involves construction of a pipeline from Russia to Turkey under the Black sea. The project countries agreed a year ago — December 1, 2014 in Ankara, however, the intergovernmental agreement has not been signed.
Currently the relations between Russia and Turkey are in crisis after November 24, Turkish F-16 shot down in Syria, the Russian bomber su-24. Russia imposed a series of economic restrictions against Turkey. In the list of measures not mentioned such major projects as the “Turkish stream” and NPP “Akkuyu”. However, suspension of the work of the intergovernmental Commission with Turkey on trade and economic cooperation, co-chaired by energy Ministers of the two countries and in which they discussed joint energy projects.
5 December President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that negotiations with Russia on gas pipeline “Turkish stream” was suspended on the initiative of the Turkish side even before the crisis in relations with Russia.
