Putin does not think that the Islamic coalition against ISIS will be wearing anti-Russian character


MOSCOW, December 17. A new Islamic coalition against the terrorist group “Islamic state” (IG – banned in Russia) led by Saudi Arabia, will not wear anti-Russian character, even with the participation of Turkey. This opinion was expressed by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin at a big press conference.

“We don’t think this coalition will be to wear some sort of anti-Russian nature,” he said.

Commenting on the participation of Turkey, Putin stressed that the country Moscow “does not consider us a hostile government”. “They committed a hostile act against our aircraft, but to say that we treated Turkey as a hostile state, is not. We’d been spoiled – Yes, and don’t know how we’ll get out of this situation. Anyway, the ball is not on our side, and in Turkish”, – said the President of Russia.

He recalled that in the Islamic coalition included other countries, including Egypt.

With the Saudi Arabia, Russia have differences on the Syrian settlement, but there are points of contact. “We (Saudi Arabia) different approach to the resolution of the Syrian crisis on some elements, but there are common approaches. We are in contact with Saudi Arabia,” said the Russian leader, Recalling that he recently met with the king of that state, are held and contacts at other levels – the foreign Ministry, the Ministry of defense.
“We are now considering joint projects in the sphere of military-technical cooperation with Saudi Arabia, there’s a whole multi-billion dollar program, by the way. And we even thought that this anti-Russian rhetoric, the Alliance is created”, – said the Russian leader.

Simultaneously, Putin saw the creation of a separate coalition of Islamic countries, the signs of conflict between Riyadh and Washington.

“I actually don’t really understand what happened,” he said, Recalling that the United States has already formed an Alliance, which includes almost all countries of the new Islamic coalition, including Saudi Arabia. “What is missing? Why was it necessary to create a new Alliance if you’re Alliance, created under the leadership of the United States? Do they have some plan, or they have internal contradictions have arisen?” – noted Putin.

The IG recognized as a terrorist organization in the USA, Canada, UK, Australia, Turkey, Egypt, UAE, India, Indonesia, and Russia (29 December 2014).
