Pushkov hopes that 2016 will be the last year of the sanctions the EU and Russia

I would very much like to hope that in 2016 we will overcome the negative, which remains, unfortunately, in the relations between Russia and the European Union, said Pushkov at the meeting of the state Duma Committee on international Affairs with the participation of MEPs.

MOSCOW, 18 Dec. The head of the Duma Committee on international Affairs Alexei Pushkov at a meeting with representatives of the European Parliament expressed hope that 2016 will be the last year of mutual sanctions.

“I would very much like to hope that in 2016 we will overcome the negative, which remains, unfortunately, in our relationships (Russia and EU) that 2016 will be the last year of mutual sanctions, because they are not profitable for neither the EU nor Russia, and that we will gradually return to the relationship that we had before the last crisis,” Pushkov said at the enlarged session of the state Duma Committee on international Affairs with the participation of MEPs.

“I will not say that we have no disagreement on several issues. But if, say, a year ago or six months ago, we have focused on the differences, as I understand our colleagues from the European Parliament, we came to the conclusion that the differences should be discussed, but the most important is what brings us together,” he said.
