The head of the Ministry of economic development Alexei Ulyukayev said that the abolition of the free trade regime between Russia and Ukraine as of 1 January 2016, does not contradict the WTO rules and its impact on the Russian economy will be minimal.

NAIROBI, 18 Dec. Cancel the free trade regime between Russia and Ukraine as of 1 January 2016, does not contradict the WTO rules and its impact on the Russian economy will be minimal, said the head of Ministry of economic development Alexei Ulyukayev.

“Of course not. This is in full conformity with WTO rules”, — the Minister said to journalists in response to a request to comment on the view that such a decision contradicts norms of the WTO.

“We’ve been crunching numbers, the effect of (the abolition of free trade regime between the Russian Federation and Ukraine — ed.) will be minimal,” — said Ulyukayev.
