Mironov: Russia lost nothing, deciding not to participate in the PACE

Without Russia the parliamentary Assembly can do, but PACE without Russia can not do, so it’s their problem, believes the leader of “Fair Russia” Sergey Mironov.

MOSCOW, 21 Dec. Russia have not lost anything by deciding not to participate in the work of the parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe in 2015, after the introduction of sanctions against the Russian delegation, believes the leader of “Fair Russia” Sergey Mironov.

“I can honestly say that do not track this situation and think that Russia has not lost anything, not participating in the work of plenary meetings (PACE),” he said.

“After the well-known declarations and demarches at the PACE I was here this parliamentary structure was simply no longer interested. I believe that we in this parliamentary Assembly can do, but the parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe without Russia, I am sure, could not do, so it’s their problem. It seems to me that this problem must be solved properly and peacefully,” — said Mironov.

He stressed that the dialogue should be conducted on equal terms.

At the end of January 2015, PACE adopted a resolution that stripped the Russian delegation of voting rights, the right to participate in the work of the statutory bodies in the monitoring of the elections because of the situation in Ukraine. In response, the Russian delegation until the end of 2015, left the Assembly.
