MOSCOW, December 24. The head of the Russian General staff Valery Gerasimov presented the French counterpart Pierre de Wille data on the transfer of the Turkish side of the insurgents in the Northern parts of Syria, reported the press service of the defense Ministry.

Gerasimov also discussed with the chief of staff of the armed forces of France, the establishment of a working group of military experts of the General staffs to combat international terrorism.

“We agreed to establish the exchange of operational information for coordination for more effective defeat of the command posts, military equipment, warehouses, supply routes, militants and other infrastructure ISIL (the former name is forbidden in the Russian Federation the terrorist group “Islamic state” – approx.) in Syria”, – is spoken in the message of the Ministry of defense.

“During the meeting the sides had a detailed exchange of views on the situation in Syria, prospects of intensifying cooperation in the fight against international terrorism, including through the creation of a working group of military experts of the General staffs, – said the press service of the defense Ministry.

“Following the meeting confirmed the common understanding that both Russia and France seek to preserve Syria as a unified, secular, multi-religious state”, – informed the press service of the defense Ministry. Gerasimov and de Wille “agreed to continue bilateral contacts”.

On the eve of de Wille at the meeting with Gerasimov stated that Russia and France time to join efforts in the fight against “Islamic state” and “jabhat al-EN-Nusra” (both a terrorist organization banned in Russia). “We have a common goal,” said French General.

Russia from September 30 to carry out the operation against terrorists in Syria, acting at the request of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, strikes on militants also applied to the military of France. In November, President Vladimir Putin announced the agreement with his French counterpart Francois Hollande on the exchange of data on terrorists. He also ordered the Russian military to establish direct contact and interaction with French colleagues.
