MOSCOW, 25 Dec –. The imposition of sanctions against Russia — the most glaring mistake of the West in modern history, said Friday the speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko.
“I believe that sanctions against Russia unleashed by blatant information war and so on — this blunder the U.S. and the West. Maybe the worst mistake in recent history,” said the Federation Council speaker on the TV channel “Russia 24” on Friday.
Matvienko noted that sanctions hurt both sides, and not least those who introduced them. “In Europe more and more growing awareness such policies are counterproductive, illegal, bias,” said she.
The speaker stressed that there are positive signals from Western politicians, parliamentarians, but “not yet determined to stop this policy, to recognize its fallacy”. According to Matvienko, the process still goes on, and “the lifting of sanctions is still going to happen.”
