Relations with Russia are ongoing in various fields, such as energy, food and bilateral trade, said Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and expressed hope for the continuation of meetings of foreign Ministers of the two countries.
MOSCOW, 27 Dec. Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that relations between Turkey and the Russian Federation are continuing in various areas, and expressed hope for the continuation of meetings of foreign Ministers of the two countries.
“Our relations with Russia were not broken off completely. I always say that the two countries should not break its diplomatic relations”, — said the Turkish leader in interview to TV channel “al Arabiya”, noting that “relations with Russia are ongoing in various fields such as energy, food products, bilateral trade, etc.”.
“As for our relations with Russia, we don’t want them moving in a negative direction. We want to get away from that and build relationships within diplomacy,” Erdogan said.
The President of Turkey, in an interview referred to the meeting of foreign Ministers of the two countries, which was held in early December on the sidelines of the Council of foreign Ministers of the OSCE in Belgrade.
“The Minister of foreign Affairs of Turkey met with his Russian counterpart. The Turkish foreign Minister informed me that the meeting was held in a positive manner. I hope that meetings between the foreign Ministers of the two countries and the foreign Ministers of other States, will continue. There are other States that don’t want this tension continued. There are efforts of friendly Nations to improve relations between the two countries. We want to make friends and don’t want to get enemies,” added Erdogan.
