The head of the national Bank of Ukraine does not expect much damage because of predamage of the Russian Federation

The embargo from Russia is not expected to have a strong influence on the Ukrainian economy, said the head of the National Bank of Ukraine Valeria Gontareva. According to Gontareva, she “sees the market”, which will buy the Ukrainian agricultural produce.

KYIV, 11 Jan. Ukraine will not experience significant damage because of the embargo, which Russia imposed in relation to its agricultural products, because it can switch to new export markets, said the head of the National Bank of Ukraine Valeria Gontareva in an interview to Ukrainian “5th channel”.

“Moreover, while we see new markets, we do not see even any big shocks from embargoes that now enters Russia on our agricultural produce, we see markets where our agricultural produce will buy”, — said Gontareva, in an interview in Monday refers to the press service of the national Bank.

Russia from 1 January to protect its market from an influx of duty-free goods from the EU introduced for Ukraine customs duties and food embargo, similar to that which acts against the countries that supported anti-Russian sanctions. In addition, Russia has suspended to Ukraine, the agreement on the CIS free trade area (FTA).

In turn, the Ukrainian authorities promised to impose retaliatory measures immediately after the entry into force of trade measures in Moscow. And on 30 December the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted two resolutions — on the abolition of the FTA with Russia within the CIS and to enter embargo on certain goods from Russia. The embargo, according to the warrant, will be valid until August 5 or until canceled by predamage Russia on Ukrainian goods.
