Crimean Parliament asks to recognize as genocide the actions of Ukraine against the inhabitants of the Peninsula


SIMFEROPOL, January 13. Deputies of the State Council of the Crimea has turned to Russian law enforcement agencies to investigate a genocide against Crimeans from Ukraine.

“The state Council of the Republic of Crimea appeals to the General Prosecutor of the Russian Federation, Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation to conduct an investigation on the fact of implementing genocide against the people of the Republic Crimea by deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, including the creation of criminal gangs whose purpose is the infliction of harm of life and health of people in blockade of the Crimea”, – stated in the document.

Deputies believe that the crimes associated with the so-called blockade of the Crimea should not have a time limitation. “We are convinced that the terrorists and their supporters who have encroached on life and health of the civilian population of the Crimean Federal district, not to evade responsibility. This crime has no Statute of limitations and sooner or later the guilty must be punished”, – the statement says.

The Crimean Parliament also intends to raise the issue of recognition of genocide against the people of the region by the Ukrainian authorities in international organizations. With a request to assist in this the deputies appealed to the Russian foreign Ministry.

THE ACCESSION OF CRIMEA AND SEVASTOPOL INTO THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION

March 11, 2014 Supreme Council of Crimea and Sevastopol city Council adopted the Declaration on independence of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and city of Sevastopol.

March 16, the Crimean referendum is 96,77% of citizens in Crimea and 95.6% of Sevastopol voted for reunification with Russia. The turnout in Crimea was USD 83.1%, in Sevastopol – 89.5% of voters.

On 17 March the Supreme Council of Crimea adopted a resolution in which the Crimea was declared an independent sovereign state. In the same document contained an appeal to Russia with the offer on acceptance of Crimea into the Russian Federation as a new entity with the status of the Republic. On the same day the President of Russia signed a decree recognising the Republic of Crimea as a sovereign and independent state.

March 21, Vladimir Putin signed Federal law on ratification of the Treaty and the Federal constitutional law on accepting the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol to Russia as subjects of the Federation and also the decree about formation of the Crimean Federal district, which included the Republic of Crimea and the Federal city of Sevastopol.

On April 11 the Constitution was adopted Republic of Crimea, according to which the official languages are Russian, Ukrainian and Crimean Tatar.
