SEVASTOPOL, 14 Jan –. Chairman of the legislative Assembly of Sevastopol Alexey Chaly, announced his intention to retire, officially remains in a managerial position until the next session of the legislative Assembly, reported the press Secretary of the head of the Sevastopol Parliament Alexey Filimonov.

Earlier, Deputy speaker of the Parliament of Sevastopol Alexander Kulagin has informed that deputies can ask Chaly to withdraw your resignation or re-nomination to the post of speaker.

“Alexei Mikhailovich Chaly remains the Chairman of the legislative Assembly of Sevastopol to the next session, which will be held in January,” — said Filimonov.

Filimonov did not comment appeared in the media information that Chaly, allegedly after meeting with the representative of the presidential administration of the Russian Federation, has agreed to stay on as the Chairman of the legislative Assembly of Sevastopol.

On his resignation Chaly said at the end of December during the parliamentary session. His decision was motivated by the failure of the program of development of the city legislature and the Executive.

Chaly was one of the leaders of the “Russian spring” which launched the process of return of Crimea to Russia in 2014. After the beginning of Pro-Russian rallies in Sevastopol he got so strong support among the local population that he began to call “people’s mayor”. In early April 2014 legislative Assembly of Sevastopol Chaly appointed acting Governor for the transition period. This position he held until April 14, when he resigned his authority, and by decree of the President of the Russian Federation took the former Deputy commander of the black sea fleet Sergey meniailo.
