“The news that our delegation will not attend the next session of the PACE. I think it’s absolutely right,” Mironov told journalists on Monday.
“But I would go further. You need to stop paying dues to this organization (the Council of Europe – ed.). Premiums are paid to the Council of Europe, but as soon as the PACE works without the Russian delegation, there then why do we have fees to pay? Russia without PACE will cost, but the cost if PACE without largest country, is a big question. Nothing to pay – I will be interrupted,” – said the leader of just Russia.
On Monday it became known that the Russian delegation will not attend January session of the parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. The speaker of the state Duma Sergey Naryshkin said that the Russian Federation in February will pay a third of his membership fee in the Council of Europe. “As for the payment, in the month of February, we – the Russian Federation – will pay part of this fee in the amount of one third from it, and then we’ll see, we’ll continue to monitor the situation,” – said Naryshkin. “If I’m not mistaken, (it) is about €32 million,” he said.
