ST. PETERSBURG, January 18. The contract “Gazprom” with “Turkmengas” is broken due to the fact that Turkmenistan has not been the constructive position associated with the price of gas, said Deputy Chairman of Russian gas monopoly Alexander Medvedev.
“The story has dragged on for a very long time. Due to the fact that the price question has not been resolved, we operate under contractual rights that we have. We are on for an extended period, beyond common practice, negotiated, but despite this the question of prices was not resolved,” he said.

Medvedev noted that “Gazprom” was compelled to file a lawsuit to arbitration in connection with the fact that I saw with the Turkmen side is the desire to find a mutually beneficial solution. The question will be whether the company has contacts with the Turkmen side, he replied in the affirmative.
In this case Gazprom does not rule out continuing negotiations with the state concern Turkmengaz for the purchase of natural gas, Medvedev said.
As previously reported by the source in “Gazprom”, “Gazprom export” has informed “Turkmengaz” on the termination from January 1 of the current year the purchase of Turkmen natural gas. At the same time “Gazprom” from 1 January 2016 increased purchases of natural gas from Uzbekistan. The agreement to increase purchases of Uzbek gas were achieved at the end of December last year.
Thus, according to the source Agency, purchases of Uzbek gas in 2016 could exceed 3.1 billion cubic meters, which in 2015 were bought from Turkmenistan.
