MOSCOW, 18 Jan. Qatar and Russia are United in the desire to achieve stability in the energy markets, which, including, there is need for dialogue between producers and consumers of hydrocarbons, said the foreign Minister of Qatar Khaled bin Mohammed al-Attiyah following the meeting of Russian President Vladimir Putin with the Emir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani.

He pointed to the agreement to develop cooperation between the two countries in various spheres of cooperation, including in energy. “Both sides have a real desire to strengthen cooperation and achieve stability in energy markets. This should be done, including through dialogue between producers and consumers of energy resources”, — said the foreign Minister of Qatar, noting that this occurs on the falling prices on the world markets of oil and gas.

Also al-Attiyah said that the talks “had identified a need to further strengthen cooperation between the two countries in terms of trade in liquefied natural gas (LNG)”. According to him, it is necessary to increase the share of LNG in trade, including to combat global warming.

“The heads of Russia and Qatar reiterated their commitment to achieve the goals for which it was established the Forum of gas exporting countries”, — concluded the foreign Minister of Qatar.

In turn, the Russian foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov also said that the two leaders confirmed their willingness to develop cooperation in various spheres, including in the energy sector.
