DAVOS, January 20. Russia occupies 24th place in the ranking of the best countries in the world by the publication US News & World Report.
The country was assessed on nine criteria: tourism industry, innovations, power and influence in the world arena, social sphere, culture, historical heritage, economic growth, openness to business, the General standard of living of the population.
First place in the total ranking, which came in 60 countries, is Germany. It is followed by Canada, UK, USA and Sweden. Completing the list Iran (58th place), Ukraine (59) and Algeria (60).

On the individual criteria of power and influence in the world Russia took the second place, behind only the United States. Third place went to China. The publication said that after the United States, “Russia and China are perceived as the most powerful country and is among the three States with the largest military budget”.
The rate of growth of Russia’s economy took 10 th place. According to this criterion, India, Singapore and China. For other criteria the country was not in the top 10.
The ranking was compiled by US News & World Report in collaboration with the consulting company BAV Consulting and the University of Pennsylvania. It is based on the results of the sociological survey conducted among about 16 thousand people from 36 countries, including representatives of the business elite and ordinary citizens.
