The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine presented to Gazprom the penalty at $ 3.4 billion for alleged abuse of dominant position on the market of transit of gas. Gazprom reminded that it did not exercise business activities on the territory of Ukraine.
MOSCOW, 22 Jan. Gazprom expressed surprise about exposed by the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine fined for abuse of monopoly position on the market of transit through the territory of the country, the Russian holding company sees this as an attempt of pressure, the report said “Gazprom”.
“Today it was reported that the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMCU) has decided to fine “Gazprom” for 85 billion hryvnia (about 3.4 billion dollars) for abuse of dominant position on the market of transit of natural gas to Ukraine. It causes astonishment, because “Gazprom” carries on entrepreneurial activity on the territory of Ukraine, passing the NJSC “Naftogaz of Ukraine” natural gas on the Western border of the Russian Federation. Such decision of the AMC can not be treated in any capacity other than attempts to put pressure on “Gazprom”, — said the Russian company.
“Gazprom” intends to defend its rights and legitimate interests by all available legal point of view ways,” adds Gazprom.
