The number of countries subjected to the project “Northern stream-2” ideological criticism and the urge not to cooperate with Russia, said Sergey Lavrov at a press conference on results of Russian foreign policy in 2015.
MOSCOW, 26 Jan. The project of the gas pipeline “Nord stream-2” is exclusively commercial, beneficial to Russia and the European Union, and its critics only try to complicate relations between Moscow and Europe, said Russian foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at a press conference on results of Russian foreign policy in 2015.
Speaking about the future relations with Germany, Lavrov said that “if we will be pragmatic, think about their interests, the national interests that do not violate any international obligation, the result is always attainable, positive.” As an example of such cooperation he cited began work on the design and construction of the pipeline “Nord stream-2”.
“It is absolutely economic, commercial project, best course in Germany and across Europe, is beneficial for Russia,” said Lavrov.
He drew attention to the attempts of some countries “to expose (project) ideological criticism”, to call not to cooperate with Russia, “because it would harm Ukraine, although we all know why it took work, aim not to be dependent on transit through Ukraine”.
“It is the efforts of our relationship from the outside, to complicate, complicate. (They) call out to some Atlantic solidarity, EU solidarity. I would love to not only in this case but in all other cases, as Germany is, in fact, Europe and any other country, made the decision not depending on whether the official one or from the other neighbouring or far away country visited and advised on what to do, and decisions would be taken depending on a clear understanding of its national interests,” the Minister added.
