MOSCOW, January 28. The activities of collectors must be suspended until the adoption of the corresponding law, according to the Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko. Her statement was circulated on Thursday, the press service of the upper house of the Russian Parliament.

“Due to the increasing cases of lawlessness on the part of collectors, it is necessary to suspend the activities of collection agencies before adopting a law that would strictly regulate their work”, – said the Senator.

And while the document is being developed, she said, “it should immediately return to the law on banking activities pre-existing prohibition to transfer the rights associated with banking services, persons who do not have a banking license”.

“Thus, we protect citizens from communicating with suspicious personalities from obscure organizations that operate under the guise of collection agencies”, – concluded the head of the Federation Council.

Yesterday at plenary session of the chamber Matviyenko called for the speedy adoption of the law on collection activity. “Today this business has actually turned into a criminal. Increasingly we hear about the absolutely egregious cases knocking out debt. Given that the amount of overdue debt on loans grows, the tangle of problems in this area will grow as a “snowball”, – she said and urged his colleagues “jointly with the State Duma and the government to consolidate its efforts and to adopt a modern, comprehensive law on collectors”.
