Chizhov did not rule out the possibility of revival of the project “South stream”

It is clear that in the long term the EU’s need for gas will only increase, said Russia’s permanent representative to the EU Vladimir Chizhov.

MOSCOW, 29 Jan. Russia’s permanent representative to the EU Vladimir Chizhov did not rule out the possibility of revival of the project “South stream” in the “near future”.

“In this matter of unity, consensus in the European Union was not, and never will be, and, moreover, cannot be by definition. There are countries that are interested in this, there are countries that would have preferred a different route to see, but they themselves are to blame together with the European Commission. There are countries, where this problem don’t care. It is clear that in the long term the EU’s need for gas will only increase,” — said Chizhov on the TV channel “Russia 24”, commenting on the prospects of the project “Northern stream-2”.

However, he expressed confidence that the project “Northern stream-2” will be implemented. “But will the “South stream” — let’s see, maybe the project and will be reborn”, and, in the near future”, — said the permanent representative.
